Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
It is bittersweet to be our last day in the beautiful land of Malawi! This morning we had two incredible visits in local communities.
First we visited the library in the village of Ntanila. This site was selected for the library because it is close to several schools and villages with solar furthering the goal of education. We saw the processes to take in books and check them out. We saw their children’s library and many school age children were studying in another section. The children at the Church of Resurrection had gathered books for the children of Malawi and these gifts were presented to the library.
Then we visited a Village Savings Loan (VSL) club. This group of 25 women are amazing! They greeted us with song and dance – we showed them our moves but we could not match their grace and joy. These women meet weekly and buy shares to invest in their club business of raising maize and their individual businesses. They can also borrow money at a 20 percent interest rate.
Now we are on the pink bus heading to Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi. We will shop at a local market and relax before our travel home begins tomorrow.
The team at Opulence and staff at COR have supported us in planning and throughout our stay – Zokomo (thank you)! It is very sad to leave the new friends we have made and they will continue in our hearts and our prayers. We are thankful to God for this opportunity and showing us the beauty and spirit of the people of Malawi.
