Day 1 & 2
Our Family Mission trip to Omaha is off to a great start. We began our trip on Sunday evening joining together for a delicious pasta dinner followed by our first devotional led by Pastor Bill and then went over what our Monday would look like and what to expect. We ended the night with families connecting through games, crafts, swimming and more. It was great to see within the first hours together relationships were being built, and kids were playing together with their new ‘best friends’!
Monday, we split into two groups to divide an conquer. One group started the day at the hotel packing lunches for the homeless in Omaha. The other group ventured to The Big Garden to plant radishes, lentils, spreading mulch and get some beds ready for planting in the spring. Both groups then met together for lunch at a fantastic park. We then swapped jobs for the afternoon. We ended the day by packing 500 sack lunches that we will take with us to Open Door Mission on Tuesday for them to get into the hands of those that need it.
Families worked so hard that we were all ready for some downtime/fun time in the afternoon. Some families swam, went on walks enjoying the beautiful weather, played games and some headed to an art studio and watched glass blowing along with seeing other beautiful art. After a wonderful afternoon we met back together for a taco dinner, followed by awesome worship, and a wonderful devotional from Melissa Gepford that prepared us for what we will experience tomorrow. We finished the evening with lots of laughs and group bonding. We are so excited for tomorrow and all the ways we will see Jesus!
