Today was our last serve day in Mooiplaas. We started with a devotion discussing our experiences and the connections we made here. Next, we visited a retirement community. We spent time with the members and helped with the gardens. Our favorite part was the dance party at the end. A few children from Ditshego heard the music and joined us.  Nothing brings people together like praising the Lord.

Then we celebrated a teammate’s birthday with lunch and a special dessert. Finally, we visited the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg. You enter the museum as a white or nonwhite based on your ticket and view past events through those perspectives. We learned a great deal about Apartheid and Nelson Mandela. The visit prompted many questions and discussions about history and how it relates to today.

We had an incredible week serving at Ditshego. We are grateful for the time spent with the youth and young adults from Westview. It was our first student trip here, and it was a great success! We built relationships, learned from each other and deepened our faith.  We end this experience with grateful hearts and expanded views. Thanks for hosting us Westview!
