Sunday, February 8, our regular 5 pm worship service at Leawood will begin at 4 pm.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
I love that Resurrection’s Global Mission Team uses John Wesley’s Covenant Prayer as its guiding mission focus. Let me share it with you, in case you are not familiar with it:I am no longer my own, but Yours.Put me to what You will, rank me with whom You will.Put me to doing, put me to suffering.Let me be employed by You or laid aside for You,brought low for You or lifted up for You.Let me be full, let me be empty.Let me have all things, let me have nothing.I freely and heartily yield all thingsto Your pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God,Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,You are mine, and I am Yours. So be it.And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.Bulike is a beautiful town where we have been put to doing.Close your eyes and imagine white, puffy clouds, the smell of burning fires, and the sounds of roosters, crickets, and turkeys. Keep your eyes closed and add red clay houses, thatched roofs, sugarcane fields, water barrels, and animals—goats, cattle, and dogs roaming freely.Don’t open your eyes yet.The most important part of this picture is the people. Beautiful people—of every age, every shape, every energy level. Young and old run to the edge of the road, wildly waving their hands and joyfully shouting, “Jambo!”This is the beautiful community where we have been put to do our work. This is how we start each day—with joy, enthusiasm, and encouragement. Each morning we travel these roads to Bulike Primary School, part of Uganda Counseling and Support Services (UCSS). The school is hosting a Community Education Conference, where each day we share presentations on a wide range of educational topics. These sessions are opportunities to learn and grow together. Our topics include heart health, climate change, discipleship, Women’s Day, and more. This afternoon, we visited the UCSS Vocational School and Liberty High School. Let me pause here to say that this was not my first visit to these locations. I was part of a 2024 team, so I thought I knew what to expect. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised by the tremendous growth at both schools. God is clearly at work on so many levels here.At the Vocational School, we met with the jewelry makers who create stunning pieces entirely from paper. Do not be fooled by the material. Each piece of paper is carefully cut, rolled, and shaped into beads, then dipped in varnish to seal and harden them. The beads are strung together to create bracelets, necklaces, and handbags. The shortest time it takes to complete a single piece is one week.Next, we visited Liberty High School—an accredited high school and university preparatory school. It is the fifth highest-rated school in Uganda and draws students from across the country and as far away as Kenya. As I reflect on this day, it is clear that God is doing extraordinary things in Bulike. So what am I doing? What is our team doing? We are being blessed by the beautiful people of Bulike. We are listening. We are learning. And we have the privilege of sharing the story of all that God is doing here in Uganda.Put us to doing.
