Meet Your Bible

Wednesdays May 1 – June 5 | 6:30-8:00 PM | Online

Sundays May 5 – June 9 | 6:30-8:00 PM | Resurrection Leawood, Parlor

Meet Your Bible” is a 6-week class that provides an overview of every book in the Bible. Weeks 1-3 summarize the epic sweep of the Bible’s entire story of God’s saving work, and trace how the Old Testament (the Hebrew Scriptures) launch God’s “big story” of redemption through law, history, poetry and prophecy. In the last 3 weeks we see how the New Testament carries on and completes God’s “big story” through letters, gospels and the vision of Revelation that carry the story to its triumphant completion.

Who Am I?

Wednesdays, May 8 – 29 | 6:30 PM | Resurrection Leawood

Thursdays, May 9 – 30 | 6:30 PM | Online

Did you know that how well you know yourself can affect how well you know others – and God? Who Am Iis a 4-week workshop to help you grow in understanding who you are, how you are made, and how you engage with the world and others. We’ll explore these ideas through the lenses of how God sees you, the Enneagram, and your spiritual gifts. Then we’ll bring it all together and send you out from the workshop with a plan to become more aware of who God has made you to be.

Disciple Classes

Church of the Resurrection offers a variety of Disciple Bible Studies each year. If you’re not familiar with the Disciple Bible Study program, click here for more information. Disciple 1-4, Jesus in the Gospels and Christian Believer are offered each fall, beginning in August or September. Recently added to our course offering is a short-term Disciple 1 class that begins in January of each year. The purpose of this class is to prepare you to begin an advanced level Disciple class in the fall. It is our intention to offer all Disciple classes in person during the day and both in person and online classes at night.

Disciple Bible Study is a tested curriculum that is guaranteed to help you feel more confident in approaching the Bible, while at the same time bringing you into relationship with class members who support each other in a journey of understanding and transformation. For more information, sign up for your location’s newsletter and Adam’s weekly e-note.

Disciple 1

Disciple 1 provides a foundational overview of the Bible. Beginning with Genesis and continuing through Revelation, group members will read approximately 80% of the Bible in this Fast Track 24 week study. Disciple 1 is great for those at any place in their faith journey.

Disciple 2

Fast Track Disciple 2 is a shortened version of the original Disciple 2 study. Classes meet for a total of 24 weeks as they study Genesis–Exodus and Luke–Acts for 12 sessions each. Daily preparation is to read 3–5 chapters of the Bible each day. (Disciple 1 suggested pre-requisite).

Disciple 3

Fast Track Disciple 3 examines the major and minor Old Testament prophets and the 13 Letters traditionally attributed to Paul. Several themes weave their way through the study-the call to remember; the call to repentance; the need for renewed vision and the place of community. (24 week study, Disciple 1 suggested pre-requisite).

Disciple 4

Fast Track Disciple 4 concentrates on the Old Testament writings not in the Torah or the Prophets, such as Psalms and Proverbs, and the Gospel. (24 week schedule using the traditional study book, Disciple 1 suggested pre-requisite).

Jesus in the Gospels

Jesus in the Gospels digs deeply into the mission and message of Jesus through a detailed and comparative study of the Gospels. Study the name, the place and the people-a commanding, morally compelling figure as portrayed in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. (30 week study, Disciple 1 suggested pre-requisite).

Christian Believer

Christian Believer is a study of the classical doctrines of the Christian faith which includes God’s providence, atonement, judgment and eternal life. This class blends together the reading of Scripture with reading classic Christian writings. (30 week study, Disciple 1 suggested pre-requisite).

Image Bearers

Join Pastor Justin Schoolcraft for an engaging Sunday morning Bible study. This informal class will be a weekly opportunity to dive into the biblical text in an effort to understand the dominant ideas that permeate God’s story. We’ll spend time each week reflecting on the implications of the week’s passage on our daily lives, starting with Genesis and then moving straight through the Bible. This class is intentionally multigenerational, and we’ll be at our best when people of all ages are present. You do NOT need to have been present the previous week to join – just come when you can!
