Recovery groups welcome anyone affected by substance, drug, or alcohol abuse or addictions of any kind, including those struggling with mental health concerns. Some groups are meeting in person and online.

Join us for a Family Education Panel: Exploring the connection between addiction and mental health disorders.

During this event, you will hear from professionals in the field about how to support a loved one dealing with mental health disorders, substance abuse, or both. This process can be challenging and involves many steps. Our aim is to provide clarity, resources, and guidance to comfort and support families. The panel of expert members includes Crisis Intervention Teams, clinical therapists, NAMI representatives, and individuals involved in recovery. They are dedicated to improving community mental health conditions and quality.

Resurrection Recovery Resources

Recovery Curriculum

This course walks you through the 12 steps and encourages community and faith. We take a biblical approach to the Twelve Steps with stories and characters from the old and New Testament with a pictorial look at the Resurrection Stained Glass Window. Understand the meaning of surrender, making amends, how to take an inventory, what is prayer and meditation and how to lead your own 12-step study. This guide can be done online in the Fall and Spring with our support groups or one on one with a sponsor.

First Call led a conversation to offer education and support for the high need faith communities are finding regarding substance use and mental health. This conversation addresses language to reduces stigma in regarding addiction and offers resources to those seeking help in the Kansas City area.

The Kansas City Royals’ general manager Dayton Moore spoke at Resurrection to raise awareness about the harmful effects of pornography and how to find hope after addiction. This event was part of our weekly Thursday Care Night programming.

Recovery Kickoff: Guest Speaker Frank Boal

How does someone find hope in the midst of the tragic loss of a child? Frank Boal, sportscaster with Fox 4 KC and WHB 810 Radio, shares his personal story following the death of his son Brett in a car accident. He talks about Brett’s struggle with addiction and its impact on his family.
