WEATHER ALERT:

Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

IMPORTANT:

Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.

As I reflect on the early days of Resurrection, I’m reminded of the invitation extended back in 1990 to “Come Dream with Us.” It was a call to step into something brand new, filled with hope and anticipation. Now, 36 years later, that same invitation is just as relevant, maybe even more so. God continues to invite us into adventures yet to be discovered, with dreams still waiting to be fulfilled. At Resurrection, we often say, “God isn’t finished with us yet.”

That’s why I’m excited for the opportunity to partner with our incredible Adult Discipleship Team as a facilitator for our 55+ and Senior Adult Ministry. My name is Debi Nixon, and I’ve had the privilege of being part of Resurrection almost from the beginning, serving on staff for the past 32 years. Now, as someone fully living into this vibrant 55+ season of life, I’m convinced this season offers endless possibilities and purpose that I don’t want to miss, and I know you don’t want too either.

We each approach this stage from different places. Some are still raising children or fully engaged in careers or working,  while others have discovered new freedom in time and energy. No matter where you find yourself, this is an exciting opportunity to pause, reflect, and dream about how God might be inviting you into something new. What are you longing for in this season? How can we help one another grow spiritually, nurture meaningful friendships, experience something new, and make a difference in the world around us? What would make this ministry truly life-giving for you and something you would want to invite others to?

Over the summer, I would love to connect with you, hear your stories, and learn about your dreams, your questions, and the things that matter most to you. To get us started, will you take a few moments and do me a quick favor and share your ideas in this quick survey?  It won’t take you more than 5 minutes, but it will be a good start.  You can access the survey here.  You can also reach out to me at debi.nixon@resurrection.church.

When Reed and I made our first visit to Resurrection, we had recently moved to Kansas City from Dallas, we were establishing ourselves in our careers, had two toddlers ages 1 and 3. Now 35 years later, those two toddlers are fully grown and have two children of their own, making us very very very proud grandparents. We are in the final years of our careers, and yet once again, I hear the invitation…Come Dream! So, no matter your age and stage in life, let’s see what God has in store for us in this season!
Let’s Dream Together,
Debi Nixon
