On Serve Saturday, 16 Resurrection volunteers spent their morning at Seton Center — filling food pantry orders, shopping the thrift store for neighbors in need, and organizing a warehouse that keeps it all running. A small act on a Saturday, tied to a much bigger vision for our city.

This summer, 45 Resurrection sixth graders traded free time for service, partnering with 11 local ministries across Kansas City. From food pantries to community gardens, they discovered that following Jesus’ command to love one another means rolling up your sleeves — and it changed them as much as the people they served.

“Remember me? I was at Bright Futures!” Those words captured the heart of a Pathways graduation celebration honoring 22 young adults aging out of foster care. More than 60 volunteers came together at Resurrection Leawood to assemble the final 1,900 Backpacks for Hunger bags of the school year. In total, Resurrection provided more than 60,000 bags to Kansas City children, helping meet weekend food needs while sharing God’s love in a tangible way.
