Small Groups Blog

My small group is made up of 5 young married couples, and 3 out of the 5 couples have babies under 2 years old. One of the couples lives just outside of KC, and they were moving to a different unit inside their apartment complex to have more room since their baby joined their family.

“I have had the immense privilege of being a part of my Small Group here at Resurrection for almost six years. To be completely honest, I was fairly hesitant to join my group at the beginning.

Two years ago, when I knew that the Discipleship team at Resurrection had developed a new strategy toward small group formation that focused on creating a culture of belonging I pretty quickly felt a “nudge” to lead an online group.

Intergenerational small groups can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved. By carefully considering the needs of all age groups, you can create a space where meaningful connections can grow, and a strong sense of community can thrive.

Starting something new can be uncomfortable. And feeling connected to others helps us feel like we’re part of something bigger than ourselves.  

Recently, one of our pastors told me about an experience he had of visiting a small group. The leader of the group graciously listened through the check in, remembered names of family members, and set out the goals for the session. But it’s what she did next that really surprised the pastor.

Serving your community with your small group is a fantastic way to bond while making a positive impact.
