Behind every faithful pastor is a family making sacrifices most people never see.
Across Malawi, pastors faithfully serve their congregations week after week—preaching, praying, visiting the sick, comforting the grieving, and sharing the hope of Christ. They do it joyfully, but often with limited financial resources. For many, providing an education for their children has been one of the greatest challenges they face.
That’s why the Pastors’ Kids Scholarship Program exists.

Through the generosity of Resurrection, children of United Methodist pastors across Malawi are receiving opportunities that once felt out of reach. And recently, two of those stories reminded us exactly why this partnership matters.
Marumbo Nzima and Barnabas Lungu grew up watching their parents faithfully serve the Church. They understood sacrifice firsthand. They also understood the value of education.
Today, because of scholarships provided through Resurrection, both young men have been accepted into two of Malawi’s leading universities. Marumbo will study education with the dream of one day becoming a professor, while Barnabas will pursue History and Heritage Studies, hoping to preserve and celebrate the rich story of his country for future generations.
Their stories are inspiring.

But perhaps even more inspiring is what they represent.
When Resurrection invests in the children of pastors, we’re doing more than paying school fees. We’re telling families who have devoted their lives to serving others, “You are seen. You are valued. You’re not serving alone.”
That encouragement ripples far beyond one student.
It strengthens pastors who faithfully lead their congregations. It blesses families who often sacrifice quietly behind the scenes. It raises up future teachers, researchers, leaders, and Christ-followers who will continue serving their communities for decades to come.
Marumbo and Barnabas aren’t simply scholarship recipients.
They’re evidence that generosity changes trajectories.
Their success belongs to their families, their churches, the Malawi United Methodist Church, and every person at Resurrection whose faithful giving made this opportunity possible. As these two young men begin the next chapter of their lives, countless younger children are watching and beginning to believe that their own dreams might be possible too.
Thank you, Resurrection, for reminding faithful pastors and their families that they are loved, supported, and never forgotten.
