Ash Wednesday services at all Resurrection locations will be held on schedule today.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Resurrection’s trips to the border are both educational and service-oriented. Teams listen and learn with our partner organizations and make trips to migrant shelters to hear stories and serve.
Teams to the border have two main activities: classroom sessions and shelter visits.
Teams spend time at Resurrection’s partner organization, Abara, where participants engage in learning sessions related to many issues at the border, such as root causes of migration, immigration reform, and push-pull factors of global migration. Abara brings in experts in the field to share with participants what the realities are of migration.
Teams also spend time working in migrant shelters, providing welcoming faces and fellowship to migrants after a long journey.
Teams fly into and stay in El Paso, Texas. Resurrection will arrange the flights so that the team travels together. During the trip, teams will cross the border into Mexico.
Teams stay at the Abara apartments in El Paso, TX. Lodging will be bunkbeds and will have private bathroom facilities.
Meals are provided by Abara staff and are typically traditional Mexican food prepared by local women.
Open to adults and children ages 14 and older if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Currently, U.S. citizens (U.S. passport holders) visiting Mexico for ninety days or less do not need visas.
You do not need speak Spanish to join a Borderlands team, but we are always looking for team members who do!
