Due to potentially damaging weather this afternoon and evening, the children’s musical and pre-show events in the Leawood Sanctuary have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Scheduled programming has resumed for Thursday, February 13 at all Resurrection locations.
Malawi—often called the “Warm Heart of Africa”—is a place where community comes first. On a Resurrection serve trip, you’ll partner with Opulence Malawi and the Methodist Church of Malawi to support work that’s already happening locally.
There isn’t just one way to serve here. Some teams help with mobile medical clinics, working alongside Malawian medical professionals. Others focus on education—spending time in community libraries or preschools, reading with kids, leading simple activities, or supporting local staff. You may also be part of an empowerment-focused trip, connecting with community leaders and participating in workshops that build capacity and strengthen local initiatives. The work is practical and people-centered. You’re not coming in to fix things—you’re coming alongside local leaders, offering your time and energy where it’s helpful.
Be a part of Resurrection’s long-term partnership where we not only send teams, but help fund things like clean water, education, mentorship programs, and sustainable projects such as permaculture farms, so your time there builds on a foundation that’s already in place. You’ll also spend time with community members—sharing meals, conversations, and daily life. These relationships are often what people remember most.
We partner with innovative indigenous organizations to drill clean water boreholes, support rural mobile medical clinics, assistance in acquiring medical supplies, and address food insecurity with permaculture teaching farms.
We support multiple education initiatives which work to equip children and young adults with mentors and training in sustainable food projects, preventative healthcare, spiritual formation counseling, and child rights.
We provide microfinance training for community members on how to save, budget, and create small entrepreneurial endeavors. We also provide vocational training scholarships for at-risk youth.
Team activities will vary based on partner needs and the trip participants going.
Typical meals include rice, nsima, greens, and meat (typically chicken or fish).
Malawi trips are open to adults and youth ages 16 and older if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Some of our Malawi trips include an optional safari and cultural experience for an additional cost. Ask your team leader for more information!
A visa is required for US passport holders to enter Malawi. Team Leaders and staff will help procure visas prior to departure.
